Craving Connection
My art is all about finding connections in the world and experiencing them together.
My art is not meant only for my eyes - it’s for anyone who can see it. For everyone who sees my art for what it is.
I crave that connection, that knowing.
Finding a Kindred Spirit
Recently, I was able to have a collector come into my studio (hooray for them being scent free!). And this person sees my art the same way I do.
This is so unique, especially with my abstracts.
Listening to the way this collector talks about my art as they’re experiencing it is so exciting. It made me feel validated, justified, acknowledged, important and remembered.
It gives me hope in different ways.
To have someone truly see you is horribly and desperately inspiring, and I don’t come by that often. Especially being someone who has worked so hard, for most of their life, to be invisible.
Self praise and self support is lovely, yet finding community is an affirmation all on its own.
All of a sudden my shoes fit really well and I can walk a little bit further. My shins don’t hurt, and I can run a little bit longer. You know what I mean?
Now I understand why artist’s go to their own openings - to get this feeling!
