Beams of Light
Do you ever notice the magical ways that light can dance?
There was a phenomenon that I saw this past summer…
The light was really low on the horizon. It shone past the mountains through the trees and across the grass until it touched the water. There was a clearly outlined corridor of light.
Encouraged Presence
It’s enchanting to see these beams of light coming through. It’s pretty to look at, and it’s welcoming and warm.
Looking at these beams of light makes me want to plop down on the grass and just bask in it. While I don’t normally care about bugs and dirt, this experience makes me care even less so. I just want to watch the light fade out of the day.
I plan to explore these beams of light more this winter. I’ll be capturing light corridors and fading of light. This will likely manifest in paintings of twilights and dawns, meaning lots of early early morning studies.
For me, this looks like getting up at 5:00am, which isn't a hardship for this morning person! Actually - the earlier the better. I use the light coming in past my blackout curtains to tell me when to get up. They are like the angry eyes of a big, dark monster. If it looks like the monster has fierce eyes, I've slept past 5:00am. If they just glow ominously, I'm right on time!
If you ask me, it’s totally worth it to get up in the wee hours and start my day with the glow of the early morning.
